WHO WE ARE

N Y D H E E is a non-political, non-government, non-profitable voluntary organization. Moved by the social inequities prevailing, a group of dedicated and committed youth led by Mr. Prasant Muduli took the challenge to address the sufferings of the weaker sections through sustainable development. The organization was established with the conviction that everyone including the marginalized has the right to social justice and a dignified life.

NYDHEE (Network for Youth Development and Healthy Environment) is a registered non-profit and non – government organisation under the Indian Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860. For the last 18 years, it has been working in Eastern India to eradicate socio-economic inequities through sustainable development approach. It works with community based groups and institutions to address the issues affecting the urban and rural poor, with a special focus on SC, ST, women and children.

WHAT WE DO

The Organization was started on 12th January 2001 by a group of dedicated and committed youths led by Mr. Prasant Muduli (a well known Social Activist in Odisha), and for more than one and half decades, has been a pioneer in promoting pro-poor development with a mandate to fulfil basic developmental needs of the marginalized households through various peoples’ platform. In many years of intervention, NYDHEE has established several projects in the areas of Water and Sanitation, Sustainable Livelihoods, Health, Environment and Forest, Education, Women Empowerment (Entrepreneurship, SHG and Micro-finance) and Disaster Response and Mitigation. These projects are operational in Odisha, Jharkhand and West Bengal. The organization was conceptualized in 2000 to contain excesses through WASH, forestry, livelihoods and eco-friendly initiatives during the time Since then, it has been working for the improvement of rural & urban poor, tribal and dalit in the state of Odisha, focusing on women groups and their cooperatives as a means of holistic community development and empowerment. Youth and women SHGs and their cooperatives were promoted by Nydhee with an aim to initiate developmental activities through an institutional framework amongst target communities.
